Welcome Home!

Coyotito is home! He was discharged this afternoon and is now here with us safe and sound.

He loves Oakland already... although all he has seen is our new living room.

Needless to say, we are *VERY* happy!

Bathtime!

Coyo gets his first bath by mamí and papí... which begs the question-
"How many people does it take to wash Coyotito?"

How cute he looks both before and after...

especially in mamí's arms...

From feeding tube to bottle

Little Coyo is continuing his exciting journey home. He has grown to 5 lbs 8 ozs! His little face and body are getting bigger, and he is as feisty as ever. He loves the attention from mamí & papí, and loves to flirt with the nurses at the NICU, who all give him lots of TLC.

Coyotito is getting old enough to bottle feed mamí's milk, which papí first gave him the other night. Coyo loves to eat, and we love to watch him get "milk drunk," as the nurses call it. He gets back at us with a little spit up...which he describes as "better going down than coming up!"

Tonight he will begin eating entirely by breast & bottle feeding instead of the feeding tube. Ojala we will be taking him home soon!

¡Que Viva México!

Tonight Coyo said...

"¡Viva México!
¡Viva el 16 de Septiembre!
¡Viva Hidalgo!
¡Abajo con los gachupines y el rey!
¡Viva la independencia!
!Viva la raza Mexicana!
¡¡¡Que viva México, c*******!!!"

Really, he said that...

Happy Mexican Independence Day!

Week 3... Bigger, Stronger... although not yet Faster!

Lil' Coyotito is growing bigger and stronger every day. Last you might have heard, he was suffering from a nasty illness last week known as NEC... which is short for several big words, but all you need to know is that he was *not* happy. Neither were mama & papa, who stayed at the hospital to comfort and soothe him.

Coyotito got better, and although he had to take a week off from breastfeeding & became a *very* hungry baby, he continued to grow because of his IV, and mama & papa were there every step of the way.

Last weekend mama & papa moved to their new apartment which they can't wait to show Coyo. Thank you to all of Coyo's friends and family who helped in the incredible task of helping Aparna y Joel move, including Sierra, Patricia, Taura, Ravi, Damian, Wally, Hunter, Eric, Lisa, Josh, Veronica & little Maya, Ann, and Ada. Special shoutouts to Noah and Big Family Movers for moving us. And to all those wonderful people who have fed mama and papa along the way - Mamie, Damian & Edessa, Hunter & Irene, Aimee, Makiko, Maria, Chris & Kimberly, Trang, Sandy, Ada, and James - you have warmed our hearts and kept our bellies full so we can concentrate on healing, moving, and taking care of Coyo.

On Wednesday Coyo began to breastfeed again, and promptly gained several ounces (even after pooping!). As of Thursday night he is now over *FIVE POUNDS*! He is out of the incubator, his IV is going down, and he is even looking a little gordito.

Below are some pictures from the past week. Enjoy!

¡Tres generaciones!
